After dropping the Lone Star Showdown for the second consecutive year to the Texas Longhorns during rivalry week, the College Football Selection Committee dropped the Texas A&M Aggies four spots in this week's rankings.

The frustrating night in Austin, Texas, will either make or break Mike Elko and company moving forward, but for now, the likelihood of the program hosting a home playoff game is looking up. As of this week's official CFP ranking, the Aggies would play Notre Dame in a rematch at Kyle Field in the first round, with a potential matchup against Indiana if Texas A&M secures a win.

  3. Georgia Bulldogs (11-1)

  4. Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-1)

  23. Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4)

  25. James Madison Dukes (11-1)

On Sunday, the Aggies' true fate will be revealed as part of the CFP Selection Show, scheduled to start at 11 a.m. CT. Texas A&M's positioning will be determined by the results of the conference championship matchups on the Week 15 slate, including a massive SEC Championship clash between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide in Atlanta on Saturday.

While the disappointment of losing to Texas and missing out on reaching the league title game for the first time in program history produced a cloud over the program in recent days, there is still plenty to play for, including the national title, if improvements can be made during this period of time without any scheduled matchups until the CFP.
