Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Lands Wild Ben Simmons Comparison

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been under fire all season long, but the criticism has never been louder following the Eagles' Black Friday loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Eagles mustered just 15 points in the loss, and with Hurts going just 19-for-34, the reigning Super Bowl MVP has completed under 60 percent of his passes in three of the last four games.

With Philadelphia's season at risk of spiraling out of control, Spike Eskin of 94 WIP has pitched an absolutely wild comparison for Hurts: former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.

While Eskin did not go as far to say that Hurts and Simmons were similar mentally, he noted that both athletes are similar in their reluctance to do things that would help their respective teams.

In the case of Hurts, Eskin said that he does not want to run with the football and isn't throwing over the middle of the field. Meanwhile, Simmons was hesitant to drive to the basket and refused to try and shoot three-pointers.

Eskin also saw parallels in the way Hurts and Simmons handle relationships. Hurts has a rather strange relationship with wide receiver A.J. Brown, and Simmons was never able to truly get along with Joel Embiid. Both clubs have been affected by those icy partnerships.

"I believe more in Jalen as a person than I believed in Ben, but he's showing a lot of signs, and I saw how this ended in the first place, and I'm getting worried that we're going to end up in the same place," Eskin concluded.

Of course, the one key difference between Hurts and Simmons is that the former won a championship and has played in two Super Bowls. Simmons, on the other hand, never made it past the second round of the playoffs.

But Eskin seems to be referring to what he is witnessing watching Hurts this year and clearly feels that a major blow up could be on the horizon if things don't get rectified.

The Eagles are 8-4, but they have gone just 4-4 over their last eight games and will now have to hold off a surging Dallas Cowboys squad (6-5-1) in the NFC East.

Philadelphia will face the Los Angeles Chargers — possibly sans Justin Herbert — next Monday.
