There are a handful of must-see matchups in college basketball tonight, including three between top-25 teams.
Iowa-Michigan State (7 p.m. ET on Peacock), Tennessee-Syracuse (7 p.m. on ESPN2), North Carolina-Kentucky (9:30 p.m. on ESPN) and USC-Oregon (10 p.m. on FS1) are all intriguing matchups worth checking out.
But the two we're focusing on here include the ACC/SEC Challenge showdown between No. 15 Florida and No. 4 Duke and No. 5 UConn's trip to Lawrence to take on No. 21 Kansas.
No. 15 Florida at No. 4 Duke -- 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)
Betting odds (DK):
- Spread: Florida +8.5 (-105); Duke -8.5 (-115)
- Moneyline: Florida +320; Duke -410
- Total: 156.5 (o-110; u-110)
Can Cameron Boozer (pictured above) turn in another huge performance against one of the biggest -- and best -- frontcourts in America?
That's the biggest question in this must-see ACC/SEC Challenge battle at Cameron Indoor.
Florida (5-2) already has two losses, sparking concerns over the new-look UF backcourt led by Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee.
I like the Gators' chances of keeping Boozer at least somewhat in check and making this a close game for 40 minutes, though. Between Rueben Chinyelu, Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh, the Gators have a ton of depth and forward/center, and that will come in handy against Boozer, who is averaging nearly 23 points and 10 boards per game.
This is Duke's (8-0) third game of the season against an SEC opponent. The Blue Devils opened the season with a win over Texas, and their most recent game was an 80-71 victory over Arkansas last week.
Picking against this loaded Duke squad, especially in Durham, is risky, but I expect a good performance tonight by the reigning champs.
Pick: Florida +8.5 (-105 at DK)
No. 5 UConn at No. 21 Kansas -- 9 p.m. (ESPN2)
Betting odds (DK):
- Spread: UConn -2.5 (-108); Kansas +2.5 (-112)
- Moneyline: UConn -148; Kansas +124
- Total: 142.5 (o-115; u-105)
Unfortunately, the biggest star for either team, guard Darryn Peterson, remains sidelined for Kansas (6-2). There's still plenty of talent on both of these rosters, though, and UConn (6-1) will get a boost from sharpshooter Braylon Mullins in his first extensive action.
This one feels like a coin flip to me, so I recommend staying away from the spread and the moneyline markets.
If there's one player prop I like in this game, it's Kansas F Flory Bidunga to grab at least 9 boards. He's reached that number in three of his last five games, including a 14-rebound effort vs. Tennessee last week.
As long as the Jayhawks' big man can stay out of foul trouble, I expect him to have a huge night on the glass.
