On a four-game win streak, are the Houston Texans among the top 10 teams in the NFL entering Sunday Night Football's bout against the Kansas City Chiefs?
Fresh off a 20-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts on the road, the Texans sit at 7-5 entering Week 14. They're still a game out of first place, but bolstering a No. 1 defense in total yards and scoring has presented a better case than most teams as the most complete roster in the AFC South.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAs Houston looks to gain ground behind the Colts and Jaguars, it's gained steam in Nate Davis' latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports, moving up five spots from No. 11 to No. 6, largely due to the defensive suceess.
"The Seahawks allegedly have the best defense in the world, but the numbers support the Texans − who are allowing the fewest points and yards per game in the league," Davis wrote. "Now, is it good enough to snap a five-game losing streak to the Chiefs?"
The Chiefs, fresh off a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys, found themselves down eight spots to No. 15 after moving to below .500 for the first time since Week 2.
"The state of their tattered offensive line has to be a real concern with Houston's pass rush coming to Arrowhead," Davis wrote.
Across the AFC South, the Colts took the biggest tumble, moving from No. 8 to No. 13 following Sunday's loss. The inability to trust the offense outside of Jonathan Taylor has become a reason to ponder if this team can actually win a division title.
"They've won once since acquiring CB Sauce Gardner, who's out for an indefinite period with a calf injury," Davis wrote.
Jacksonville moved up three spots to No. 9 following its win over the Titans.
"They're 4-1 since their return from London and can take outright possession of the AFC South's top spot by beating the Colts on Sunday. Not enough credit is being funneled into Duval County," Davis wrote.
As for the Titans, they remain in last place at No. 32, losing six straight since their improbable win over the Arizona Cardinals, which still remains their lone victory.

Elsewhere around the league, the Los Angeles Rams are ranked No. 1 and New England Patriots are ranked No. 2 as the two leaders toward a Super Bowl run. To view the complete NFL power rankings going into Week 14, visit USATODAY.com.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. on NBC.
