While Demon Slayer has yet to receive a Netflix live-action adaptation, Japan is already making waves in bringing this billion-dollar franchise beyond animation. Demon Slayer has announced its 6th stage show, set to come out next year, and to celebrate, it revealed the first look at its live-action version of Tanjiro Kamado, who will be played by two actors.

According to Crunchyroll, the sixth show of DEMON SLAYER - KIMETSU NO YAIBA- the stage is said to adapt the "Hashira Training" Arc, which was the story arc that took place before the events of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and was what Season 4 of the anime was based on. Playing Tanjiro Kamado are Shogo Sakamoto, who previously played the character in the fifth stage show, and Fu Takahashi, who's making his Demon Slayer debut. A poster for the stage play was released on social media and the show's official website, showcasing this young demon slayer using the water and sun breathing techniques.

The sixth show of DEMON SLAYER -KIMETSU NO YAIBA- the stage will be performed in Tokyo in June 2026. The first Demon Slayer stage play premiered in 2020, and since then, each installment has covered different arcs from the manga. According to Crunchyroll, the fifth stage play was based on the "Swordsmith Village" arc and was performed at The Tannozu Galaxy Theater in Tokyo from April 11 to 20, 2025.

Ever since the first volume of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was released in 2016, it has become a massive hit. The manga sold over 220 million copies, and its films have grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Meanwhile, the anime has been highly praised by fans, generating an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.42 score on MyAnimeList. The films also received widespread praise from fans and critics, to the point that they broke many box-office records since their release in Western countries.

The Demon Slayer franchise has received numerous accolades throughout its run. The manga was highly recognized in Japan and won the Grand Prize at the 2021 Japan Cartoonists Association Award. Meanwhile, the anime adaptation received numerous nominations at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards and took home "Best Continuing Series" and "Best Animation" for 2025. Its music also received recognition from the Billboard Japan Music Awards and the MTV Music Awards Japan.
