After failing make the team out of camp, the young defenseman found himself bounced between the Rangers’ lineup and Hartford when a need opened up on the backend.

But now Sullivan will have no choice but to lean on Morrow a bit, as the Blueshirts have a huge hole to fill on the blueline with All-Star defenseman Adam Fox hitting long-term IR to an upper-body injury.
The 23-year-old will remain in a smaller role to start, having skated on the third pairing and quarterbacking the second power play unit in practice, but there appears to be room to grow with Fox labeled as week-to-week.
To see more time, Sullivan is looking for more assertive play from Morrow.

It’s an opportunity he feels he’s ready for, starting Tuesday against the Stars.
“I know I’m ready,” Morrow said. “I just need to play my game and do what I normally do. Just try to help the team out in my areas of strength, defend well, keep pucks out of our end, protect the net, and just try to help us win.”
