Handing out the first batch of monthly awards, it shouldn't be a shocker to see the reigning NBA champion heavily featured as they sit at the top of the league standings at a historic 20-1 record through the first quarter of the 2025-26 regular season.
Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault has won the October/November Western Conference Coach of the Month award. Other nominees were David Adelman, Mitch Johnson, Jordan Ott and Ime Udoka. Out East, Detroit Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff was the winner.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDaigneault was named Western Conference Coach of the Month after leading the Thunder to the fourth-best start in NBA history. This is Daigneault’s fourth career Coach of the Month award.
The Thunder sit atop the NBA standings. Many expect them to flirt with 70 wins. They continue to have the league's clear-cut best defense. Daigneault is in his sixth season as OKC's head coach.
In terms of the other major monthly awards, Cason Wallace won the October/November Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month award. And Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was nominated for the October/November Western Conference Player of the Month award that Nikola Jokic captured.
