One Piece is one of the most popular entertainment franchises that has ever been, so why aren't more people talking about its spin-off series? The main story is massive, gripping, and captivating at every turn, so it's pretty surprising that an official spin-off flew under the radar.

It's true that series creator Eiichiro Oda wasn't involved in the spin-off, but it did get his approval. It's an adorable, endearing story starring a group of kids infatuated with One Piece, and who can blame them?

The series is pretty succinct too, and it's one of the few anime series made specifically for vertical formats. One Piece in Love came out on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram on April 4th earlier this year, and it's well worth the watch for anyone who loves the original series.

It's Sold Over 500 Million Copies of Manga

There are few people familiar with anime who haven't heard of One Piece. Even non-anime fans recognize Monkey D. Luffy, showing just how far the franchise's reach is. One Piece is one of the longest-running anime series of all time, and it doesn't look like it'll end anytime soon.

Luffy's adventures with his fellow Straw Hat Pirates are infectious. No matter where they go or what they do, fans are on the edges of their seats to see what's next for the future King of the Pirates.

One Piece is well over 1,000 episodes long at this point, and somehow, there are almost no skippable moments. It's an incredible feat from Eiichiro Oda, and an accomplishment few other anime series have even gotten close to.

So Why Aren't More People Talking about This Spin-off?

One Piece in Love Is an Official Spin-off Series

One Piece in Love is an adorable, lighthearted series that feels a lot like One Piece Fan Letter, an episode created by Megumi Ishitani, was a fan letter in every sense of the phrase. The entire episode felt like a fan dedicating their love to the series, the Straw Hats, and the entire world that One Piece exists in.

One Piece in Love exists in that same vein. The author behind the short series, Daiki Ihara, clearly loves One Piece as much as anyone. The short episodes are packed to the brim with One Piece references, official music, and so much more.

It might not be a bad thing that the series wasn't as talked about as it should have been, because it gives plenty of One Piece fans the chance to experience it for the very first time.
