The Pittsburgh Steelers started the season red-hot, winning four of their first five games and building up a sizable lead in the AFC North.

But in the seven weeks since, the team has dropped five of its last seven games and finds itself in a first-place tie with the surging Baltimore Ravens, who have won five of their last six.

Sunday’s 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills didn’t do much to reassure Steelers fans things were taking a turn for the better as Pittsburgh was thoroughly outplayed and the offense struggled to move the chains and put points on the board.

The Steelers mustered just 166 yards of total offense, and things looked even more bleak after the game when quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw an unnamed wide receiver under the bus by insinuating someone had been skipping out on the team’s film studying.

“When there's film sessions, everybody shows up, and when I check to a route, you do the right route,” Rodgers told reporters. “… We have our meetings every week. We have other opportunities outside of the facility, and [I] look forward to seeing all the boys there.”

This isn’t the first time Rodgers has called out his own pass-catchers.

During the 2024 season, Rodgers put former New York Jets teammate Mike Williams on blast for running the wrong route.

“It was two verticals — Allen [Lazard is] down the seam, Mike's down the red line,” Rodgers explained at the time. “So I'm looking at Allen, he puts his hand up, three guys go with him. So I'm throwing a no-look to the red line. And when I just peek my eyes back there, [Williams is] running an in-breaker. So, um, [Williams has] to be down the red line.”

The good news is the Steelers can reestablish their grasp on the division lead next Sunday when they travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens. The bad news is, Baltimore is firing on all cylinders, while Pittsburgh’s cracks are starting to show.
