Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 Episode 7 of Tracker. This third season of Tracker has been a blast so far, having taken the time to actively work on fixing the pitfalls of Season 2. This week's episode, "Eat the Rich," pushes Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) even closer to the truth about his father's work than before, only to quickly pivot to a new missing persons case that sends him into a world he's largely unfamiliar with. If you're hoping for another exciting Colter Shaw adventure, then look no further than this week's Season 3 installment.
"Eat the Rich" Mixes Colter Shaw's Family History with a New Job
This week's episode begins with Noelle Buchanan (Madalyn Horcher) watching television in her home, only to be stalked by someone outside. Taking a fireplace iron, she goes to investigate, but seeing nothing, heads back inside. The moment she closes the door, a hand breaks through her window to grab her. Later, in Boston, Massachusetts, Colter wanders onto a gun range to meet Andy Fleming (Michael Aaron Milligan), the son of a man who worked with both his father and the mysterious David Pearson. It turns out that Aston Shaw (Lee Tergesen) stayed with Andy and his family one summer when he was a kid. Andy remembers that Ashton, David, and Andy's father held "thinktanks" in their garage back in the day, watching tapes of a man hooked up to some sort of machine. But when Andy has to head out to work, Colter meets a desperate father, Dale Buchanan (Benito Martinez), who is desperately worried about Noelle. The police aren't concerned because they found drugs at her apartment, but Dale is certain that his daughter isn't an addict, so Colter takes the case.
Making his way through Boston, Colter speaks with Reenie (Fiona Rene) over the phone about a guy named Vince Unger (James Roney), a dispensary owner who never treated Noelle terribly well. But the moment Colter hangs up, we see that Reenie has a male companion (and a half-drunk bottle) in her New York hotel room, and for some reason, she lied to our favorite rewardist all about it. Meanwhile, Colter enters the dispensary just in time to watch Vince and some others beating up on another guy. He gets involved and, after some assaulting of his own, gets his hands on Noelle's delivery schedule. This takes him to the last-known location of Noelle's e-bike, and a mysterious customer, defense attorney Lyle Voss. Although this seems like a step in the right direction, it appears that Colter has stepped into something bigger than he imagined, as Voss is dead.
It isn't long before the police show up, and it's here that Colter is confronted by Officer Shonda Crosby (Alana Hawley Purvis), who largely dismisses his ideas. But Crosby leaves just in time, because Randy (Chris Lee) soon calls with information that Noelle had called a taxi around the time that Voss likely died. Even better, he is able to play Colter Noelle's last voicemail to the lawyer, which implies that she may be hiding out at Voss' rental property. Colter heads to the address, which is the same home we saw Noelle in before. He spots the broken window in the door and enters to find glass everywhere and signs of struggle. Randy calls again to find that Voss' internet history had been wiped after his death, but not before he was searching for information on an old-money family by the name of the Bennings. Turns out, Noelle worked at a Bennings party at the Rosewood Château before she disappeared, with Randy tying it directly to the death of a waiter found in a back alley.
This 'Tracker' Episode Dives Into the World of Boston Old Money
Back in New York, Reenie kicks her one-night stand, Mark (Cesare Scarpone), out of her hotel room, but not before he passes along his number. It's a bit of an odd thing, but it appears that we're not done with this character yet, even if Reenie already appears to be. The moment he leaves, Colter calls, and she relays what she's found out about the Benning family. Evidently, they're the biggest fish in the Boston pond, and Colter won't be able to escape their reach for long. So, when our favorite rewardist is on his way to his next location, he finds that his breaks are out. Running amok through the streets of Boston, Colter pulls away just in time to pop his tires and keep from harming anyone else.
To continue Colter's investigation, Reenie meets with the Bennings' former lawyer, Enzo Sousa (Charlie Gallant), who doesn't want anything to do with the case at first. However, he eventually lets slip that it's likely not the Benning patriarch behind all of Noelle's problems, but rather his son, Graham (Tyler Johnston), whose shady past is likely catching up with them. Back in Boston, Colter looks over his cut brake line only to be attacked by a would-be assassin. After taking out the gunman, Colter steals his car and finds an address in the navigation system. Reenie calls Colter to unveil what she's learned, adding that a fixer named MC (Italia Ricci) is likely the one trying to clean up the mess.
Elsewhere, Graham Benning tries to see Noelle, who is being guarded by family goon Milo Simmons (Tobias Jelinek). Milo pushes back against Graham, trying (seemingly for the hundredth time) to convince the kid that Noelle will not listen to reason and will expose his actions — namely that he strangled the waiter to death — to the authorities if she has the chance. When MC arrives, she takes Graham elsewhere under the guise that she wants to hear their ideas about how to clean this up without bloodshed, but Milo returns to Noelle, who he has been dosing with some sort of drug — it turns out that he was the man who planted the drugs in her apartment. Forcing more substances upon her, Noelle doesn't have much time left.
'Tracker' Season 3, Episode 7 Ends With a Promise of More
Arriving at the Benning home, Colter meets with Gene Benning (Clay St. Thomas), who has no interest in the reward seeker's desire to speak to his son. MC arrives just in time to run interference. She essentially pushes Colter aside, giving him the opportunity to sneak indoors under the guise of serving as one of the help. Instead, he makes his way downstairs and conveniently finds Graham's room. Entering the bathroom, he finds the kid dead in the bathtub. We're not quite sure at first if he killed himself out of guilt or if MC had it done to keep his mouth shut, but either way, Colter believes the latter. He calls Randy to locate Noelle, having found a message of her on Graham's phone from an unknown number. This leads him to the area where Milo has kept her.
Entering the storage room, Milo fires on Colter and the two trade bullets until the latter finally hits the would-be-assassin. Unfortunately, Colter can't seem to wake Noelle up. It's only when MC arrives with Narcan that Noelle gains consciousness again. Clearly, the fixer is working some other angle, but she allows Colter to take the girl home to her father. Although Dale doesn't have much to pay Colter, he accepts the man's Springfield firearm as payment instead, and the family is happily reunited. But just because the job is finished doesn't mean that Colter is satisfied. Back at the Benning estate, the reward seeker returns to confront MC, who tells him that Graham was the one behind the kidnapping and attempted murder — not that any of us buys that for a second. Colter is clear that he knows exactly the type of woman this fixer is, and he hopes he'll be there one day to see her put behind bars, ending the episode with the promise that they may just cross paths again.
