College football’s transfer portal doesn’t officially open until January, but players are free to share their intentions whenever. Maryland football took its first hit Sunday, with sophomore defensive back Shamar McIntosh announced his plans to hit the portal. Hayes Fawcett first reported the news.
McIntosh wasn’t a contributor this season — he appeared only in the season opener against Florida Atlantic and made just one tackle — but was positioned to potentially play a role in 2026.
