Arsenal are set to be punished by the Football Association (FA) after what happened when the Gunners drew 1-1 against Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta watched helplessly on the sidelines as the Gunners had to come from behind to secure a hard-fought draw despite playing the second-half against ten men. The Emirates Stadium club struggled to break down a resolute Chelsea defence and have missed a chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and Viktor Gyokeres came on for the North London club in the second-half and were also booked. As stated in the FA handbook for the season, any team that accumulates six or more yellow cards in one game is subject to a £25,000 fine. The Association will take disciplinary action against a club if six or more of the club’s players or technical area occupants are either cautioned or sent off.
The fine is doubled if they do it again and so on. The last time Arsenal were hit with the same fine was in February 2024 when they got six yellow cards in a 3-1 win over Liverpool at home. The Gunners are back in action on Wednesday when they host Brentford before a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday. Arsenal have only won once in their last four meetings with the Villa Park club, losing twice, and they need to be at the top of their game to leave with all three points next weekend.
The Midlands club are fourth in the table, six points behind the Gunners, and they will be desperate to hand Arsenal their second league defeat of the 2025-26 season.
