Welcome to another episode of the LSU Roundtable Podcast! It was a busy week for the LSU Tigers with plenty to talk about. The two main topics of this episode are the hiring of Lane Kiffin and the fast start by the two basketball teams.

The conversation starts off by going over the hiring of Kiffin and what it means for the Tigers.

He is also bringing over former Ole Miss Rebels offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., meaning that the expectation is that the offense is expected to be humming from the get-go.

LSU had gotten used to seeing elite scoring offenses with two Heisman winners since the 2019 season. Over the past two years, they have been let down by the Joe Sloan experience.

Here is a rundown of the Tigers offenses over the past few years:

2020: 32.0 points per game (39th in the nation)2021: 26.5 points per game (80th in the nation)2022: 34.5 points per game (24th in the nation)2023: 45.5 points per game (1st in the nation)2024: 30.5 points per game (59th in the nation)2025: 21.8 points per game (108th in the nation)

Over the same amount of time, here is what Kiffin has been able to accomplish on that side of the ball with the Rebels:

2020: 39.2 points per game (4th in the nation)2021: 33.7 points per game (24th in the nation)2022 (when he hired Weis): 33.5 points per game (29th in the nation)2023: 35.1 points per game (16th in the nation)2024: 38.6 points per game (3rd in the nation)2025: 37.2 points per game (11th in the nation)

The offensive side of the ball should no longer be a worry for LSU.

The next conversation was about the fast start by the Tigers' two basketball teams, both Men's and Women's.

Kim Mulkey has her squad humming to start this season, with an 8-0 start and they have yet to finish below 100 points. While the level of competition hasn't been very high, they have looked as dominant as they are supposed to.

Mulkey's front court is not as deep as it has been at LSU, but their back court may be the best in the country. Flau'jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley have been great so far.

The Men's team is also undefeated, starting off the year at 7-0. Dedan Thomas Jr, Mike Nwoko and Max Mackinnon are this team's leaders.

They haven't had the toughest schedule yet, either, but things will kick up soon against the Texas Tech Red Raiders and SMU Mustangs.
