Once coaches start making specific comments, it’s only fair to suggest that things are going in as bad a direction as anybody could have imagined. For the Philadelphia Eagles, after they lost to the Chicago Bears in the Black Friday game in Week 13, it sounds like that was the case for Nick Sirianni. He was asked what the team plans to do with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, and while he said that they will evaluate everything, he also doesn’t believe that one loss is due to just one person.

"We'll evaluate everything, but like I said to you guys, when you win, when you lose, it's never about one person," Sirianni said Friday night, per NFL.com. "We all collectively have to do a better job and that's going to be starting with us as coaches, starting with me as head coach, finding solutions to get the offense going, and so I'll put that on us as a staff and put that on me most individually there to help get this thing pointed in the right direction.

"But I still stay with that. It's the greatest team sport there is and it's never about one person. We all have to look internally, and all have to get better, coaches and players."

I don’t disagree with Sirianni in the simple sense that losing a game doesn’t mean it was all of Patullo’s fault. We can look at what the Eagles have done on the offensive side of the football all season and suggest that multiple players have to be better, including Jalen Hurts, who had one of his worst games as a professional, in my opinion, on Friday.

It’s also really tough for Patullo to do what he has to do when Saquon Barkley and others on the offense aren’t getting the job done.

We’ll certainly see what might change over the next few weeks. If the Eagles are going to go out and make the necessary move to improve on the offensive side of the football, it might require them to change Patullo’s role. Whether that ends up happening or not remains to be seen, but it seems like something might definitely be in the works moving forward.
