By Evan MasseyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Dallas Cowboys are fresh off of a huge Thanksgiving Day victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a win that gave a bit more hope to the slim playoff odds that the Cowboys currently possess.
Jerry Jones and company have to be happy with how the last two weeks have gone. Beating the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12 and backing that up with a win over the team that lost in the Super Bowl is a big deal.
While the odds remain high that Dallas can get into the playoffs, the door is still open for them.

Keeping that in mind, the team took to social media on Sunday with an announcement about two roster moves it made.
...As shared by the Dallas Cowboys Public Relations on X, the Cowboys have designated star cornerback Trevon Diggs to return to practice and also signed running back Israel Abanikanda to the practice squad.

Getting Diggs back on the field will be a big deal for the Dallas defense. He is a playmaking corner who is more than capable of being a difference maker for the Cowboys.
So far this season, Dallas has seen Diggs play in just six games. He has recorded 18 total tackles. Last season in 11 games, he racked up 42 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 defended passes.
Abanikanda, on the other hand, likely won't play a role for the Cowboys. He's being brought in to have more depth at the running back position for the time being. In the six NFL games he has played, all with the New York Jets in 2023, he has carried the football 22 times for 70 yards and caught seven passes for 43 yards.

Next up for Dallas will be another massive showdown, this time on the road against Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions. Both teams badly need a win following the Lions' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers.
For the Cowboys to get into the playoffs, they likely need to win out. Beating Detroit this coming week would be a huge step in the right direction. It will be interesting to see if they can get the job done.
