In the New York Jets’ 12th game of the 2025 season, on a miserable cold and drizzly late autumn day in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Jets beat the Atlanta Falcons, 27 – 24 for their third victory of the season.
The first half saw the Jets and the Falcons engaged in a tight defensive struggle. The Jets got on the scoreboard first, recovering a muffed punt by the Falcons on the two yard line and running it in on the next play for a touchdown and a 7 – 0 lead early in the second quarter. The Falcons tied the game on a late drive to make the score 7 – 7 at halftime.

After a great punt by Austin McNamara pinned the Falcons at their own 4 yard line, the Falcons embarked on a 96 yard drive culminating in a Bijan Robinson touchdown run to take a 14 – 7 lead.
The Jets struck back quickly. A two play drive ended with a 52 yard bomb to Adonai Mitchell for a touchdown as the Jets tied the game at 14 – 14.
The Falcons then drove into Jets territory and attempted a 50 yard field goal. They missed, giving the Jets great field position at their own 40 yard line late in the third quarter. The Jets were unable to capitalize as Nick Folk missed a 55 yard field goal attempt.
Now it was the Falcons who had great field position at their own 45 yard line. The Falcons took advantage, putting together a short drive before settling for a 52 yard field goal and a 17 – 14 lead as the third quarter ended.

The Jets were in business, but on third down John Metchie dropped a pass that would have given the Jets a first and goal inside the 5 yard line. It was Metchie’s second drop of the game in a rough performance. The Jets had to settle for a short Nick Folk field goal to tie the game at 17 – 17 early in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons answered with a long drive ending in a Kirk Cousins touchdown pass to David Sills as the Falcons took a 24 – 17 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
The Jets answered the call. They put together their first sustained drive of the game when it mattered most, driving 15 plays and the length of the field. Tyrod Taylor put the finishing touches on it as he scrambled for a touchdown and a 24 – 24 tie with just under two minutes remaining in regulation.
The two teams exchanged three straight three and outs before the Jets put together a drive into Falcons territory. With five seconds left the Jets lined up for a potential Nick Folk game winning field goal from 56 yards out. Folk barely sneaked the ball over the uprights, giving the Jets a last second 27 – 24 victory as time expired.
The Jets improve their record to 3-9 on the season. Now the Jets prepare to face the Miami Dolphins at home next week as both teams play out the string on the season.
