Browns defensive tackle Maliek Collins suffers leg injury; carted off

The Cleveland Browns lost one of their best players against the San Francisco 49ers. Browns’ starting defensive tackle Maliek Collins was carted off the field at the start of the second half.

Collins suffered a leg injury and didn’t try to get up. Trainers immediately rushed to him before bringing the cart out. They were testing out his knee, but it’s unclear what the diagnosis is at this time. It’s a really tough loss for a banged-up Browns team. Collins is having a career season with the Browns. Collins has six-and-a-half sacks so far. He’s playing at an All-Pro level. The veteran defensive tackle has been a great leader in a young defensive tackle room. Collins is teaching them how to be professionals. The Browns desperately need Collins back. His leadership is invaluable.

The Browns have a roster of defensive tackles to fall back on. The team has invested a lot in the position over the years. Draft picks Mason Graham and Mike Hall Jr. should see an uptick in playing time, especially on third down. The Browns' defense needs to toughen up against the 49ers. The Browns are trailing the 49ers 17-8.
