NEW YORK -- The Philadelphia 76ers had to turn to somebody to run the offense on Friday against the Brooklyn Nets with VJ Edgecombe sidelined due to a left calf issue. With limited options to backup to Tyrese Maxey, coach Nick Nurse turned to 20-year veteran Kyle Lowry to hop off the bench and give the Sixers some minutes.
In 11 minutes, Lowry had two assists and no turnovers in the win over the Nets and allowed the Sixers to find a rhythm. He made life easier for Maxey in the minutes they shared together and also directed traffic to find open looks for Jared McCain. The veteran guard showed off everything that has made him such a good point guard in his career and that makes life easier for Philadelphia's guards.

Lowry has sort of been relegated to being another coach at this stage of his career, but he can still get on the floor and help the Sixers when called upon. He, obviously, isn't the same player he once was, but the veteran out of Villanova can still get out there and give the Sixers some ball-handling and organization.
"I love playing with Kyle," McCain smiled. "He has a way of playing. It's easy to play with him. He makes the game super easy. He calls out exactly where you need to be. He'll hit you when you're open. Elite communicator as well. I mean, someone I've looked up to, I've said all the time, so anything he does, I love playing with him, and it was cool to see him out there in the court."
