Real American Freestyle 3 went down this Saturday from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois and featured a number of UFC fighters slapping on the spandex and seeing how they fared on the wrestling mats.
The highest profile of those bouts was Michael Chandler vs. Chad Mendes, and after a competitive back-and-forth Chandler walked away the winner with 4-2 scores. That victory is Chandler’s first since a 2022 win over Tony Ferguson, but he’ll need an actual UFC win before his 0-3 skid truly ends.
UFC fighters matched against actual wrestlers fared poorly. Joaquin Buckley was trounced by Pat Downey, with the UFC welterweight getting manhandled 12-0 and even thrown off the mat.
Clay Guida suffered a similar fate against Cayden Henschel, who won their bout 11-0. As always, Guida came in with a solid gas tank but just couldn’t handle Henschel’s youth.
RAF04 on December 20th will continue the trend of UFC fighters competing with Bo Nickal, fresh off his UFC 322 head kick KO win, taking on Yoel Romero. Former UFC welterweight champ Belal Muhammad will also be there against U20 World Champ and 2025 World Championships Team USA member David Carr.
