The Cleveland Browns are rolling with Shedeur Sanders as their starting quarterback once again this week.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSanders was given the starting nod last week due to a concussion to fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, and he performed well enough that the Browns are keeping Sanders as the starter even after Gabriel was cleared to return.
Now, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Browns could opt to keep Sanders as the starter the rest of the season.
"My understanding is the Browns, with a good performance, with a performance they can be proud of, that he could start the rest of the way," Rapoport reported.
Rapoport goes on to add that Cleveland simply wants to evaluate Sanders in order to know if they have their quarterback of the future on the roster before they possibly spend a high pick on one in the 2026 NFL draft.

We've already seen that Gabriel is not the guy through six starts, and given the fact that Cleveland isn't going back to him when healthy suggests it feels the same.
Sanders had a miserable debut in Week 11, but his starting debut in Week 12 was much better. Now, it's about stacking good games together moving forward.
Despite having the starting job now, Sanders has the right mentality in that he says he doesn't feel comfortable and knows he needs to do more to prove he's the guy.
"I'm definitely not comfortable, though, so that's first and foremost that I have another opportunity to go out there," he said. "But in life, you got to understand how quickly things come or how long it comes, it could be taken at any point in time."
