It is no secret that Manchester City are gearing up for a busy 2026, as Pep Guardiola’s team looks to make a resurgence.
One of the key agendas on the table is to sign a new midfielder. The club have been interestingly linked with a move for Real Madrid target Adam Wharton but are now backing off from the chase.

Bellingham once again a hot topic
According to Defensa Central, Jude Bellingham has once again become a hot topic at Manchester City at a time when the Premier League giants are desperate to sign a new midfielder.

While Bellingham initially started very strongly at Real Madrid, he has struggled in recent times, with reports murmurs that he is not particularly getting along well with new coach Xabi Alonso.

However, the report adds that Real Madrid have no intention to sell one of their top players. The club see the Englishman as a leader and a star player in the years to come and want him to stay beyond 2029.
Although Man City will have the edge thanks to the presence of Erling Haaland, his close friend from Dortmund, Bellingham, for now, doesn’t seem too keen on leaving Real Madrid.
The former Birmingham City prodigy wants to continue at the Santiago Bernabeu and build a legacy at the club.
