The Fighting Indians (13-0) will host Miami Palmetto (11-2) on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Citrus Bowl with a place in the Class 7A state championship game on the line.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementVero Beach, the Region 3 champion, is the No. 1 overall seed in Class 7A after teams while Palmetto, the Region 4 champion, is the No. 4 seed. No. 2 Lake Mary (10-3) will host No. 3 Venice (9-3) in the opposite semifinal.
The FHSAA reseeded teams based on state rankings prior to the semifinals.
Vero Beach football is making its first state semifinal appearance since 1998 after defeating Orlando Dr. Phillips 49-23 in the Region 3-7A championship game on Nov. 28.
The FHSAA State Championships are scheduled to be hosted in Miami at Florida's International's Pitbull Stadium from Dec. 10-13.
