Verstappen is third on the grid and complained of a 'bouncing' Red Bull during qualifying. The Dutchman will have to overcome that if he's to have any chance of retaining his title. A further 0.011secs behind Verstappen was Russell, followed by his Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli in fifth, ahead of the Racing Bulls of Isack Hadjar

Earlier on Saturday, Piastri won an eventful Sprint ahead of Norris in second to narrow the gap to his title rival, with Verstappen moving up from sixth on the grid to finish fourth. George Russell in the Mercedes finished third.

Sunday is race day at the Lusail International Circuit and it could be a tension-filled classic under the light for the 7pm local time start. Here’s how to watch the Qatar Grand Prix online from anywhere and potentially for FREE.

What is the Qatar Grand Prix weather forecast?

Unlike last weekend in Las Vegas, it's looking like we're in for a dry race weekend in Qatar.

Temperatures will be in the mid-70sF for the race, which will be a night time classic.

What is the Qatar Grand Prix preview?

Those McLaren disqualifications in Las Vegas have only added to the intrigue this weekend, as Norris seeks the two-point advantage he needs over teammate Piastri and defending champion Verstappen to take the title for the first time.

The Duchman was 104 points adrift of top sport after his home grand prix, but has fought back impressively. Norris, though, isn't unduly worried.

"How I am now feels the same as before Mexico when I wasn't leading. It feels the same as Austin when I still felt good in the car, but Max still won the race," said Norris. "I really don't feel any different in the car from before I was leading to now when I'm leading."

What is the Sprint race format?

The Qatar Grand Prix in Lusail, is one of six race weekends in 2025 to feature a Sprint. Over a 100km distance, the drivers compete in a fast-moving race designed to encourage lots of overtaking and less strategy.

First to take the chequered flag gets eight points, down to one point for finishing eighth. Sprint qualifying takes place on Friday, with the Sprint race the first track action of the day on Saturday.

Qatar is the sixth and final Sprint of the season.
