Arsenal attacker Noni Madueke was messaging Eberechi Eze in the summer to see if he would be joining him at the Emirates Stadium club, according to the Evening Standard. Arsenal signed Madueke from Chelsea in July, with Bukayo Saka giving Gunners manager Mikel Arteta a glowing reference about him. Eze joined the North London club in late August having come very close to joining Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs reached a verbal agreement with Palace to sign the 27-year-old, but Arsenal pipped them to him in the end.

Madueke was one of those at Arsenal constantly checking in on his fellow England international to find out whether he would be moving to the club. Eze has started to find his feet at his new club after going six league games without a goal. He has bagged four goals in his last four Premier League games and will be desperate to maintain his new-found form in the final third going forward.
The Gunners take on Chelsea later today at Stamford Bridge, and Madueke will be looking forward to causing problems for his former side as Arsenal look to extend their lead at the top of the league table. Arteta strengthened his squad depth in attack with the additions of Eze and Madueke in the summer, and the Spaniard will be glad he did. He has watched his side suffer injuries so far this term, but bolstering his squad during the last transfer window has come in handy.
