Wordle, the five-letter word guessing game that has taken the world by storm, challenges players each day to figure out the winning word. Since its release in 2021, Wordle has become immensely popular on social media and has even inspired variations of the game including Quordle, Octordle, and, for math lovers, Nerdle.
An earlier version of this List removed today's word at the very beginning of each day. Due to reader requests, answers will now be removed towards the end of the day.
Wordle started on June 19, 2021, with a listed 2,315 possible solutions. When The New York Times purchased Wordle in 2022, six words were removed from this list: agora, pupal, lynch, fibre, slave, and wench. When players connect to the Wordle site, their browser downloads a script that stores all past answers and future, unused Wordle words.

For the second day in a row, the Word was not on the unused Word list. Someone is removing the words too soon in the day again, ignoring people who live in other time zones. I live on the West Coast and sometimes don’t do it until much later. There’s no point having a list if it isn’t accurate all day.
2025-04-13 11:15:00 Upvote 8 Downvote Reply 5 CopyThey didn't remove too early. I copied the list a while back and the last two solution aren't on the list in the first place.
2025-05-25 20:56:08 Upvote 6 Downvote Reply CopyI agree. This page is inconsistently managed. Sometimes the day's Wordle is gone too soon. At 1:53 p.m. CDT, today's answer (Thursday, July 10) was already eliminated. I'm afraid whoever edits this page has zero clue as to how Wordle works. It's better to delete it on the day AFTER. No one will complain if yesterday's is here one day too late. Deleting it early, however, defeats the entire purpose of this list.
2025-07-10 14:57:54 Upvote 4 Downvote Reply CopyAgreed. 9:30 central time and not here.
2025-07-24 10:38:14They're not removing the words too soon. The effing words are not on the list at all. This happens at least once per week.
2025-07-28 16:49:56 Upvote 6 Downvote Reply CopyI agree - can't find a word ending in ELL on the list today. Obviously someone doest care that people from different countries and continents do play Wordle every day.
2025-08-14 01:20:55 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply CopyThe Wordle word for today (21 April 2025) was not on the list of unused words this morning.
2025-04-21 17:56:05 Upvote 6 Downvote Reply 1 CopyAnd same again today, May 25.
Meanwhile, words that were used months or years earlier remain on the list.
2025-05-25 09:58:49 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyFor those of you who now find this page obsolete, search MSN(dot)com and their "words-wordle-hasnt-used-yet." They don't delete it like ScreenRant is doing now.
ScreenRant! Hey! You're going to lose traffic on this page. If you delete today's Wordle answer on the same day, there is no reason to come here. DUH!!! 😃
2025-04-16 22:38:48 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply 1 CopyScreenrant is not deleting the day's Wordle answer early. The problem is that many days they never have it. And there is the opposite problem: they have numerous words that have ALREADY been used. TRASH is still on their list, and that was the Wordle answer more than three years ago, in April 2022.
2025-06-20 15:54:10 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply CopyMy post saying that yesterday's word was not in the list was removed. Is that the right way to proceed, removing posts that point out failures?
2025-04-22 02:32:41 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply CopyYou keep saying you’re not going to remove the word but it’s 10 minutes in and you’ve already removed it. What’s the point of this?
2025-04-26 03:10:42 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply CopyThere are 2 other sites that still have today's answer listed when this one has already removed it. Just Jared, and MSN
2025-04-16 06:07:50 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply 3 CopyI just recently found "Just Jared"and I am using that site now! I agree with you that people should play before they read the comments incase the word for today's puzzle is mentioned!! 👍
2025-04-16 11:20:25 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply CopyJust Jared was missing today’s answer (as was this site). Very frustrating. I would have had it in 2 because that was my guess, but I decided it must not be on the Wordle list. Even WordleCalcle later said it was not a probable option.
2025-04-21 09:55:36 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply CopyJust Jared copies this list. If this list has an error, so will JJ
2025-06-09 10:28:42 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyNot sure of the point of this list.
Does not contain todays word by 7am GMT.
A partial list of what the answer may not be?
2025-04-26 03:02:16 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply Copyfourth day the word isn't on this site. using another one, hope u weren't somehow generating income with this thing lol
2025-04-24 20:16:25 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyIt’s April 25 12:10 am west coast time and for the 4th day in a row the word is gone. This list is useless. Can anyone recommend a better list that doesn’t remove the word right away?
2025-04-26 03:13:32 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyI refer to this list daily for help making useful guesses; no point in wasting a guess on a word that was already used and therefore will obviously not be the answer. Once again, today's answer was not on the list. :(
2025-01-07 07:09:50 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply 1 CopyToday’s was missing. Nov 28 2025
2025-11-28 01:29:05 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyFirst time using this site and today’s word was not on the available list. That plus the annoying ad pop-ups make the site pretty useless.
2025-04-27 11:24:06 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyI have been using th two years, and it has been helpful, but two days in a row now it has been missing the Wordle word of the day....I will abandon it, but verify afterward
2025-04-12 08:34:31 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyI finally realized that today’s word is removed at the beginning of the day. That makes the list useless for trying to figure out if it is worthwhile to try any certain word TODAY. You should change this system to only remove the word after the day is complete (in all time zones).
2024-08-26 06:26:32 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyToday's word was not on the list. This has happened so many times!! This list is not helpful.
2025-04-11 09:33:24 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyFor the third day in a row, the word for the day is not on the list! Why have a list if you’re going to remove the word too soon?!!
2025-04-14 10:53:42 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply 2 CopyActually it was I think the fourth at this point. This list isn’t helpful to check against if this is the case.
2025-04-15 11:13:29 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply CopyDo we think NYT told them to take it off? This is so weird and frustrating. It seems like for over a week now they take the word off almost immediately.
2025-04-26 03:15:29 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyThird day in a row with the days word removed.
2025-04-13 12:06:06 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply 1 CopyYes! I noticed that too. I thought I was going crazy looking through the list. Why do you think they are they doing this?
2025-04-13 12:29:42 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyIt used to be the case that the day's word was immediately removed from this list. Now the word is removed at the end of the day.
2025-01-31 09:48:59 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyLouis
the word was gone this morning 10-12-25 at 5:30am pacific time. This is BS!!!
2025-10-12 09:41:42 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyI make that three days in a row the word wasn’t in the list?
have Wordle rehashed the og list or are they being taken out early?
2025-04-16 13:41:43 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply CopyBummed you are no longer reliable. Second day the word wasn’t listed.
2025-04-21 09:37:47 Upvote 2 Downvote Reply 1 CopyThis site is worthless
2025-09-12 09:24:30 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyAs you posted this on 5/8/24 and "pious" was the answer on 5/8/24, I'm surmising you'd been limiting guesses to words on this list, so that must've been quite frustrating. You're right. Of course, now it shouldn't be on the list, but on 5/8/24, it should've been. My first question when looking at this list, though, was (and still is): Did this person somehow acquire an actual list of 5-letter words the New York Times is randomly taking words from without replacement to derive this list or did this person just make up their own list made up of words they guess such a list might include? As I'd find it specious that this person acquired The New York Times' actual list, if one even exists, I was leaning toward it being the latter before, but now that I read your comment, I'm leaning much more strongly toward it being the latter, toward this all being based on this person's guesswork, guesswork that you with your example, along with a number of other people here with a number of other examples, proved is not accurate, so not accurate as to be unreliable.
2024-11-23 10:39:10 Upvote Downvote Reply CopyList is incomplete as words not on it have been solutions recently. They were not the daily word and already removed .
2025-08-03 20:27:18 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply Copy"Todays word" seems to be removed by 0600 GMT.
I don't know what purpose this list is meant to have.
2025-05-01 01:56:47 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply CopyWhat happened to today’s 11/13/2024 word? It’s not in your list.
2024-11-13 04:10:12 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply 1 CopySame with today's word (11/14/24). Some time ago I used this list to generate a spreadsheet that would tell me the most efficient starting word, not based on every possible 5-letter word, but based only on remaining solutions (it's currently "arose" if you're curious). Every day, I remove that day's solution from my spreadsheet. Until yesterday, the solution was always on that list. But now, two days in a row, it hasn't been. I'm curious what's going on.
2024-11-14 14:50:53 Upvote 3 Downvote Reply CopyI don't know what today's word is yet, but I'm down to the last row and have S_ATE, and have tried STATE. The only possible word I see that fits letters I have excluded is SPATE, which is not on the list. What gives???
2025-04-21 05:59:00 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply Copyi think now they are just going to remove the word daily as its been almost a week straight of this. So this is no longer a relevant list. Oh well!
2025-04-15 13:04:54 Upvote 1 Downvote Reply 1 CopyCW: You can find an updated list on MSN (dot) com. Search for "words not used in wordle msn(dot)com" to find it.
