Batman: Hush Sequel Delayed Again, Will It Derail DC's Plans?

DC fans are left in suspense as Batman's highly anticipated sequel faces an uncertain future following major delays that have raised concerns.

If you haven’t been keeping up with recent Batman comics, then you might not know that DC recently revived Batman: Hush, one of the Dark Knight’s greatest stories to date, with a sequel. However, the finale of this series has just received another massive delay, leaving fans wondering how this is going to affect Batman’s ongoing continuity.

After already suffering an initial 5-month delay that was supposed to push its release to the end of January 2026, Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s Batman #163 has now been delayed an additional two months, moving its release to March 25, 2026.

Batman #163 was set to be the shocking conclusion to H2SH Part One, but the series has now been put on life support due to a major delay in publication. This delay brings many questions with it, including whether the planned H2SH mini-series will be dropped altogether after Part One is finished, as well as how this delay will impact Matt Fraction’s ongoing Batman run.

Is Batman’s Continuity About to Break? H2SH's Delay Threatens to Derail DC’s Entire Plan

For those who need a quick refresher, Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s Batman: Hush 2 kicked off after the end of Chip Zdarsky’s run. The initial plan was for Batman: Hush 2 Part One to reach its conclusion with issue #163 before the relaunch of the Batman title with Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez’s Batman #1, which began in September.

However, with a total delay of seven months so far for Batman #163, Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez’s run will have already published seven issues, with the eighth at the printers. This matters because during a Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb Discord Q&A, Loeb mentioned that there will be elements picked up and carried over into Fraction’s run.

This is a problem, given that the potential elements Fraction is bringing over from H2SH could spoil whatever is planned for Batman #163. As of Batman #162, there is still a lot unresolved regarding the narrative and characters like Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon, the villains, and more.

So, it leaves fans wondering whether DC will avoid mentioning any characters tied to the unresolved H2SH storyline in the ongoing Batman title until the release of #163, or risk spoiling it. Anything Fraction’s run reveals concerning H2SH will undoubtedly dampen anticipation for Batman #163 and make it feel less relevant when it finally arrives.

While fans will eventually see Batman #163 hit comic book shelves, wrapping up Part One of H2SH, it puts any continuation of the HUSH storyline into question. H2SH was meant to bring fans a Part Two, which would be its own mini-series. But with each delay, the Hush storyline becomes less relevant, making it entirely possible that this project will be abandoned.

H2SH could very well join Jim Lee’s list of unfinished projects, which includes 1963 Annual (with Alan Moore), Pearl of the Deep (with Alan Moore), WildCATS (with Grant Morrison), and All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder (with Frank Miller). It would be disappointing to see such an iconic Batman series end early, though some may argue it’s for the best.

Batman #163 is available March 25, 2026, from DC Comics!
