NEW YORK -- As the Philadelphia 76ers move forward with this 2025-26 season, Jared McCain is going to play an important role in whatever success the Sixers have. The second-year guard is working his way back from a torn meniscus in his left knee along with a torn UCL in his right thumb in an effort to help this group succeed.
He had a big game in Friday's win over the Brooklyn Nets as he had 20 points off the bench while knocking down four triples. Half of his points and half of his 3s came in the fourth quarter as he helped Philadelphia put the Nets away. He and Tyrese Maxey played the entire final frame together as they continue to grow chemistry on the floor to help this Sixers team move forward.

It's always fun playing with Reese. He draws so much attention, obviously. So you get easy shots playing with him."
That's for sure. The Nets had to pay a lot of attention to Maxey which meant the star guard just had to kick it to McCain in the corner for open 3s. When Brooklyn did adjust and close out hard on him, then he put the ball on the floor, attracted defenders, and made plays either with his own shot or looking for others with his passing. The second-year guard showed it all.
"I just want him to be aggressive," Maxey added. "Extremely aggressive. Don't think. Just hoop. When he does that, he's really good. He shot the ball really well. He drove the ball right one time. He doesn't go right. So that was really cool, and he made the layup. He did not dunk the ball on the fast break. That was just ridiculous."
McCain then peeped around the media contingent in the locker room and yelled: "I was definitely not dunking that ball!" That brought a smile to Maxey's face as the two shared a moment.

The Sixers will play host to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
