George Lucas had many rules for Star Wars, and one unexpected show, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, may now be added to the list of Star Wars movies and TV shows that have broken some of these rules. Although Young Jedi Adventures is geared much more heavily towards kids, it is part of the canon Star Wars timeline.

This is particularly interesting given that Young Jedi Adventures is set in the High Republic Era, long before the Star Wars prequel trilogy. While it may seem as though this would lead to Young Jedi Adventures breaking rules about the Jedi or the Sith, there's a much smaller, and a bit sillier rule in question.

Young Jedi Adventures Has Seat Belts

As one viewer pointed out on Instagram, Young Jedi Adventures shows the characters wearing seat belts, which is something not all that common in Star Wars. Although there is plenty of travel in the movies and shows, from speeders to starships, seat belts aren't frequently shown in the galaxy far, far away.

As this Instagram post also points out, there's a good reason for Young Jedi Adventures to include seat belts. That is, with the much younger demographic, it's logical that Star Wars would want to show this real-life safety feature, rather than depicting kids traveling without them. That does raise the question, though: is this breaking George Lucas' rules?

Is This Another George Lucas Rule Being Broken?

Although it may seem like Young Jedi Adventures was breaking some long-standing George Lucas rule about seat belts, especially because of how many rules George Lucas had, the truth is, this isn't the first Star Wars show or movie to include seat belts. In fact, even in major movies in the franchise, seat belts can at times be seen.

As just one example, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones shows Jango and Boba Fett buckling up—another interesting choice, given that Boba was a kid in that movie as well (although there are plenty of examples where kids don't use them). Still, they are far from common, so they do stand out in Young Jedi Adventures.

It's of course not possible to say with certainty, without confirmation from Lucasfilm, that this choice was made in Young Jedi Adventures because the viewers are largely young children, although that does seem like a safe assumption. Either way, the inclusion of seat belts in Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures does not actually break a Star Wars rule.
