The youngster scratched his name into the record books again on Friday afternoon.
With the Islanders trailing midway through the second period, Schaefer fired one past Philly’s Samuel Ersson from the top of the circle to make is a one goal game.

That tally also marked his fifth in this month, which is another record-setter for 18-year-old’s.
Schaefer would add an assist a few minutes later, as it was his shot from the point that got deflected by Maxim Shabanov for the tying goal in the dying seconds of the period.
He now has 10 helpers to go along with his eight goals through 25 games.
“He’s so good,” captain Anders Lee said. “Especially the little things he’s been doing all over the ice. Obviously you’re going to see his skill and his offensive and skating prowess, but I thought his detail tonight was great again -- it’s the little stuff.”
Despite the triumphant comeback, New York ended up falling short in the shootout.
