The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.

After ending his high school career, Thompson was picked up with the fourth overall selection of the 2023 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.
The San Leandro, California native played the first three seasons of his pro career with Houston, and remains with the team at the time of writing.
During his time suiting up for the Rockets, Thompson wore only jersey No. 1 and put up 12.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and just under a block per game.
