It took eight overtimes for Georgia to take down Georgia Tech last year. The Bulldogs didn’t need any overtime to outlast the Yellow Jackets this year.
No. 4 Georgia defeated No. 23 Georgia Tech, 16-9, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday night. Georgia Tech had a Hail Mary chance with one second left, but Georgia’s defense batted it down. It’s the Bulldogs’ eighth straight win in the “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” rivalry.

The win adds to Georgia’s resume to earn a top 4 seed in the College Football Playoff. But first, the Dawgs wait to see if they are playing in the SEC Championship Game. A loss by Texas A&M to Texas or a loss by Alabama to Auburn would send Georgia back to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 6.
