Bayern Munich have fared quite well so far this season without Jamal Musiala, showing no signs of weakness in attack, but his comeback is still eagerly anticipated, along with that of Alphonso Davies. Musiala has been out of action since sustaining a serious fibula and ankle injury during the FIFA Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain this summer following a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma, who now plays for Manchester City.

While Vincent Kompany is eager to have Musiala back in the fold, the club wants to do everything they can to not rush him back too soon and avoid risking a major injury setback, as has unfortunately happened with players like Manuel Neuer several times in the past.

Per information from Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Musiala has made further progress in his recovery and road to full fitness earlier this week. He’s already been able to do some running on the pitch as a part of gradual progressive load to get his surrounding muscles to strengthen back up, but his was able to do some shooting drills this week for the first time since he sustained his injury. In addition to shooting drills, the 22-year-old was also able to do some dribbling drills and ball control drills into finishing on goal.

As things currently stand, even with this milestone in his road back to full fitness, the plan is to welcome Musiala back to full team training in January after the winter break period in the Bundesliga. Bayern’s first match in the year is on the 11th against VfL Wolfsburg, which could very well be the first time this season that Musiala is in the squad. After the Wolfsburg clash, Bayern face FC Köln and RB Leipzig before Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League, when Bayern will play host to Union Saint-Gilloise.
