Washington Commanders quarterback coach Tavita Pritchard is leaving the Commanders to become the new head coach at Stanford, Pete Thamel reports.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"Stanford is hiring Tavita Pritchard as the school’s next head coach," Thamel reports. "He’s a former quarterback, assistant coach and coordinator at the school, including a run on staff from 2010 to 2022."
Pritchard was hired by Ron Rivera in 2023, and was kept on the staff when Dan Quinn took over as head coach in 2024. He and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury helped Jayden Daniels have the tremendous rookie season he had in 2024, throwing 25 touchdowns to just nine interceptions en route to an unlikely berth in the NFC Championship Game.
Pritchard played for Stanford from 2006-09, throwing 15 touchdowns to 24 interceptions. He then joined the staff in 2010 as a graduate assistant. He worked his way up to running backs coach in 2013 before coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers from 2014-17. He took over as offensive coordinator in 2018, which is the position he held until 2022.
