Boise State comes off a 49-21 blowout of visiting Colorado State on Saturday, improving to 5-2 in conference play. The Broncos rolled for 279 rushing yards, with Sire Gaines finishing with 149 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Malik Sherrod also scored twice while Dylan Riley and Seth Knothe found the end zone as well. Max Cutforth finished 22-of-34 for 239 yards. Jeremiah Earby had two of the defense’s three interceptions in the win.
Utah State damaged Fresno State’s Mountain West title hopes with a 28-17 road win on Saturday night. Bryson Barnes threw for 151 yards while running 23 times for 113. Javen Jacobs scored two touchdowns on the ground, and Anthony Garcia threw two touchdown passes in just two attempts, one to Brady Boyd and the other to Barnes. The Aggies, at 4-3 in the Mountain West, can still reach the conference championship through lots of chaos in the final week of the regular season.
The Broncos reach the Mountain West title game with a win, along with a victory by San Diego State over New Mexico. But Boise State is just 2-3 on the road this season, while Utah State is 5-0 at home. The Broncos come in with nine straight victories over the Aggies, including a 62-30 romp at home on Oct. 5, 2024, and lead the all-time series 24-5.
