If you've been waiting to upgrade your home cinema setup, this $700 Black Friday discount on an underrated projector is a deal you definitely want to check out.
The 4K Valerion VisionMaster 2, normally a $3,000 investment, is currently down to $2,299 for Black Friday. I recommended the projector as an easy buy at $2,550 back in July, when I reviewed it for Android Police's sister site, Pocket-Lint. At $2,299, it's even more of a steal.
A sub-brand of AWOL Vision, Valerion burst onto the scene in 2024 and quickly captured a small portion of the projector market, mostly thanks to its products delivering top-tier features with a premium, lifestyle-centric look. That's absolutely true for the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2.
The projector's headline feature is its RGB Triple Laser light source. Pushing out over 3,000 ISO Lumens, the VisionMaster Pro 2 easily holds up to ambient light, with day-time viewing with blinds partially open still bright and vibrant, even on a 120-inch screen (that's the screen size I use with the VisionMaster Pro 2).
The projector also boasts a 4,000:1 native contrast ratio, which the VisionMaster Pro 2 dynamically boosts up to 15,000:1 with an Enhanced Black Level (EBL) mode. Essentially laser dimming, the mode intelligently achieves the impressive contrast ratio by adjusting the laser power and gamma on a frame-by-frame basis, especially when it detects predominantly dark scenes. The laser dimming ensures that the darks appear truly dark, while the gamma adjustment ensures that highlights within said scenes remain bright.
Elsewhere, while not really advertised as a gaming projector, the VisionMaster Pro 2 holds its own when the controllers come out. It boasts 4ms input lag at 1080p@240Hz, while 4K gaming maxxes out at 60Hz with 15ms input lag. A projector screen, naturally, isn't great for competitive shooters, so the 15ms input lag shouldn't really be an issue for 4K open-world or story-driven games.
I platinum-ed FromSoftware’s new Elden Ring Nightreign in its entirety on the projector, and it was a truly seamless, responsive, and visually stunning experience with no hiccups.
Apart from the specs
The Valerion VisionMaster 2 comes in a protective case that can also be used as a carrying case if you need to take the projector out and about.
The projector itself stands out with an electroplated ribbed metal design that’s wrapped around the projector’s body. This gives the VisionMaster Pro 2 a premium look, perfect for a modern living room.
Similarly, the remote sports a sleek look too. The backlit remote, which comes with two AAA batteries, offers quick access to apps like YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney. Elsewhere, it offers quick access to Google Assistant/voice control, input, the projector's AI tools, autofocus, and more.
Without exaggerating, the VisionMaster Pro 2 is one of my favorite pieces of tech to admire even when turned off.
