Imagine checking the weather app on your phone, seeing a clear sunny forecast, and stepping outside, only to be greeted by an abrupt flurry of snow. That is exactly what some OnePlus users might be battling right now.

Multiple OnePlus users have, within the last few days, reported that their device's native weather app is either failing to update or only highlighting old weather information (via Android Authority).

For what it's worth, this doesn't seem to be an issue for me. My OnePlus 12R's weather app is displaying correct information without any trouble. However, that doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist.

Troubleshooting proving useless

The issue, according to Reddit posts and subsequent replies, has shown up on devices like the brand-new OnePlus 15, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13S, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and even the OnePlus Watch 3.

At first, users speculated OxygenOS 16 to be the root cause of the issue. However, subsequent reports about the peristent weather bug on older builds and devices clarified that the issue isn't limited to the latest OS. One user also added that they were facing the same issue with their Pixel 10 Pro, and that the bug might be connected to an API issue with a weather data provider.

The regular troubleshooting steps, including clearing the app cache, wiping data, toggling location permissions, and checking background data usage seem to offer no relief. Additionally, OnePlus is yet to acknowledge the issue, leaving users trying out their own fixes to restore the basic functionality.

Until OnePlus rolls out a fix, users are welcome to try out third-party alternatives like Flowx, Weawow, or Overdrop. You never know, you might not want to go back.
