Mike: After last Saturday night in Unhappy Valley, I have this feeling that Black Friday is approaching “must-win” status for Matt Rhule’s team. Getting to eight wins and not losing to Iowa is progress.

Jon: It’s very clear that there’s progress. We are going to a bowl again this year and we don’t have to see a graphic about how long our losing streak is and how many years it’s been since we’ve been to a bowl game. I think everybody would agree we haven’t progressed as much as we’d like, but at least the shit has been wiped off this program to a certain degree. A win over Iowa would certainly make everybody feel better.

Jarek: Ah yes, Black Friday…where those of us who work retail dread the start of the crazy customer season and the football fan in me wonders just how we might screw the Iowa game up this year. I hope at least the Iowa hoodoo gets fixed.

Andy: Even a short week of dealing with these turds on CN Twitter is too long. I’d like to apologize for leaving politeness by the wayside this week, except I wouldn’t. Jon: Maybe Ryan Day has learned his lesson about not getting caught up in what Nick Saban called “rat poison”. That’s what happened when Lou Holtz said Ohio State wasn’t tough and Ryan Day wanted to prove so much that they were tough that he lost to Michigan last year instead of throwing the balls to some of the best receivers in the nation. Andy: Yes, I know it looks. Here’s Ohio State doing the closest impression in the country to a dominant team, while Michigan dicks about with the likes of Northwestern and Purdue. Jon: Is this an actual rivalry? Or is this one made up because we joined the Big Ten? I’m still trying to get my coffee together this morning. Oregon will win this. I would think this spread would be more.

Jarek: Ducks usually do well around water, and given where Washington’s stadium is, they should feel right at home. Oregon just has a little too much talent to squander this one. Oregon 31 Washington 24

Jon: Minnesota doesn’t win on the road. Minnesota doesn’t lose at home. While the Badgers have been playing better football. I’m going to go with the home team. Minnesota 24, Wisconsin 23

Jarek: Who has the bigger axe to grind? (I’ll see myself out) I think Wisconsin is playing free now that the Fickell rumors are no longer fickle. (Couldn’t help myself) Give me the upset. Badgers 21 Minnesota 17

Andy: Apparently, Nebraska was Minnesota’s Super Bowl as they appear to have checked out, losing 3 of 4 after their victory over the Corn. Wisconsin, on the other hand, has shown signs of life following word getting out that Luke Fickell will be retained for 2026 with more roster cash. However, that home/road thing don’t lie. And neither does that over/under. Bet it, don’t watch it. Minnesota 14 Wiscy 9

Jarek: Woof, this one might be hard to watch. Michigan State might not be that good, but they are competitive in the last half of the season. Michigan State 27 Maryland 17

Andy: We really should put a nationally relevant game here instead of this pile of Big 10 shit. Pass.

Blackshirt FridayIowa (-6.5) at Nebraska

Mike: Let’s make one thing clear: Iowa is NOT Penn State. They don’t run the ball as well as Penn State and Mark Gronowski is not much of a passer. Yes, Phil Parker’s defense is pretty stout, but I think the Huskers offense will bounce back from last week’s game. It’s in Lincoln; it’s time to win this game.

Just can’t lose to Iowa again.And they won’t. Iowa’s made special teams plays to win during the last few games…well, Mike Ekeler might have something to say about that. Huskers 21, Squawkeyes 17.

Jarek: Everything about this suggests we find a way to screw this up late again. Interceptions, fumbles and special teams have found a way for Nebraska to lose this one in recent memory. For once in the lives of those who will scream at you to sit down, beat Iowa. Huskers 21 Iowa 20

Andy: I agree with much of what is printed above. And things aren’t as big of a mess as they appear, despite CBS trying to dredge up “Dylan is transferring” crap the week they are broadcasting the Huskers with nothing new to offer other than Dayton decommitting and SOURCES. I thought Dylan left after sources confirmed it last year?

Anyway, despite Iowa winning 9 of the last 10 in the series, chop off the embarrassing Mike Riley blowouts and the net point differential of the last 7 is 19. We are due and we are 4-2 in one-score games this season. And, as much as I’d love to have Dylan, who has been lights out in the 4th quarters of tight games, I’m going against all history and reason on this. Emmett will do Emmett things, the receivers will get yards after catches and T.J. will make some plays to keep drives alive. Wetjen will bring one back, but so will Jacory – push, eh? It won’t be pretty, because it hasn’t been for awhile, but –

Jon: Again, it’ll be interesting to see how the offense plays this game. Are we going to be safe or are we going to let the caution fly to the wind? I hope for the latter. I don’t think Iowa is as good as they’ve been in the past, but this is a damn good chance to beat them. I hope we do. I kind of get tired of the screaming, and 8-4 would be a decent record.
