Tom Hardy is one of the biggest action stars in the world, but he didn’t earn that title overnight. He first truly arrived in the 2010 sci-fi sensation from Christopher Nolan, Inception, and he blossomed into a bona fide star over the next few years with roles in The Dark Knight Rises, Locke, Mad Max: Fury Road, and more. Fans wanted to see Hardy join the Marvel universe for years, and he did just that in 2018, but with his own twist. Instead of joining the interweaving MCU, Hardy staked his claim in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe by starring as Eddie Brock in Venom.
Hardy later reprised the role in two subsequent sequels, Let There Be Carnage and The Last Dance, the former of which is streaming on Starz and the latter is available to watch on Netflix. The first Venom movie is streaming on Disney+, so fans who want to binge the franchise will have to bounce from one service to another for all three installments. The most recent (and final) entry, Venom: The Last Dance, has also found continued success on VOD more than a year later, charting in the top 10 on Apple TV and Google in more than 10 countries around the world.
Venom: The Last Dance continued the franchise’s trend of being poorly received by critics, but audiences found enough heart in the film to help it gross $478 million at the global box office against a $120 million budget. While still the lowest-grossing Venom movie, it easily turned a profit for Sony on the back of Hardy’s stardom. Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), and Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon) also star in Venom: The Last Dance.
Is Tom Hardy Coming Back in the Peaky Blinders Movie?
There is a Peaky Blinders movie, titled The Immortal Man, in the works at Netflix right now, which will return Cillian Murphy to his role as Thomas Shelby. Stephen Graham is also coming back for the movie, and newcomers such as Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan have even joined the cast. Much to the disappointment of Peaky Blinders fans, Tom Hardy’s involvement in The Immortal Man has yet to be reported. While it may be being held under wraps to maintain the surprise, it’s unlikely that he’ll star as Alfie Solomons in the film.
Check out Venom: The Last Dance on Netflix in America and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage.
