Knoxville, Tenn. (WJHL) – With one final regular season game left on the schedule, the Tennessee Volunteers are taking a moment to reflect on what they’re thankful for this Thanksgiving week.

“I’m just thankful just to be here, I’m thankful for the good lord, I’m thankful for my family, I’m thankful for everyone in this organization that’s helped me get to where I am right now,” Vol running back DeSean Bishop said. “There’s a lot of hard days. But you know what they say, ‘The pain you feel now does not compare to what’s coming later,” and I’m experienced a lot of joy right now.” It’s just good to be around everything right now in a spot where I’m at peace with everything, and just grateful.”

Cornerback Jalen McMurray echoed that gratitude.

“My family, God for blessing me with everything honestly. And since we’re in a football setting, my teammates and coaches too,” McMurray said. “Being able to be here and have the support of my family and be surrounded by all these great people, it’s been awesome, life’s great.”

Head coach Josh Heupel also shared that his favorite dish is his mom’s stuffing recipe. This year, his sister is set to make it in her honor following their mother’s passing in 2024.

With the holiday reflections behind them, the Vols turn their focus back to football. Tennessee will close out the regular season at home, hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores at Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
