BLACKSBURG, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Tech Hokies are preparing for one final battle this regular season in a rivalry showdown against the No. 18 Virginia Cavaliers. Tech heads to Charlottesville for the annual Commonwealth Cup.
Under interim head coach in Philip Montgomery, the Hokies have gained a little momentum this season. Tech leans on a strong ground game led by Marcellous Hawkins and Terion Stewart to keep the offense moving.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOn the other sideline, Virginia boasts a 9-2 record and one of the most balanced attacks in the ACC. The Cavaliers are averaging more than 33 points per game and feature a physical playmaker in the backfield with J’Mari Taylor.
Yearlong bragging rights and the Commonwealth Cup are on the line Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
