You can look at basically any major theatrically released comedy movie and quip that they “don’t make ‘em like this anymore,” but that must be especially true for the Austin Powers trilogy: High-concept parodies of the older James Bond movies (not even the ones that were current at the time), with sets and action scenes and elaborate dance numbers and specific references to 1960s British pop culture that also had actual jokes —even if they were often knowingly stupid. Of course, movie studios barely make comedy movies at all anymore, but that just makes the Austin Powers trilogy even more special. Unfortunately, you’re running out of time to stream the series on Netflix.
All three movies (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Austin Powers in Goldmember) will be leaving Netflix on December 1, depriving the world of “yeah, baby,” “get in mah belly,” and “one million dollars” unless… you find somewhere else to watch these movies. Or you could cryogenically freeze yourself until the trilogy has returned to Netflix, or until series director Jay Roach’s oft-teased Austin Powers 4 comes out. Or just take some time this weekend and watch one of the best comedy movie trilogies ever made.
‘Austin Powers’ Is One of the Funniest Trilogies of All Time

Critics saw diminishing returns as the series went on, and audiences mostly agreed, but all three were huge hits at the box office — especially the sequels, which had the benefit of becoming Required Viewing for anyone who wanted to keep up with catchphrase comedy of the era. The first movie introduced Mike Myers as 1960s superspy Austin Powers, who got frozen in time so he could battle his nemesis (Mike Myers as Dr. Evil) in the ‘90s, creating all sorts of funny cultural miscommunications about how things changed in the past 30 years. People are confused by Austin’s “free love” sexuality! Dr. Evil has a son named Scott (Seth Green) he never met!
And the sequels didn’t take the easy route and repeat the exact same beats as the first movie, or at least they don’t just do that, since a big part of the series is riffing on the same comedy routines and repeating the same catchphrases. In addition to playing Austin and Dr. Evil, Myers played another new villain in each one (Fat Bastard in the second one and Goldmember in the third one), and Beyoncé even showed up in Goldmember. The first two are definitely a lot of fun, and if you saw the first two, then you might as well see the third one (which is how a lot of the moviegoing public likely felt, since the third movie made almost $300 million despite crummy reviews). It does have a bunch of fun celebrity cameos, though, with the plot partially involving Hollywood making a movie about Austin Powers
Once again: The three Austin Powers movies are currently on Netflix, but they’re leaving on December 1. Also: Yeah, baby. Yeahhh!
