A full integration of X-Men in the MCU is imminent following the current Multiverse Saga. As such, there's never been a better time to talk about a key ensemble movie Marvel Studios has to make beyond Xavier's main team of mutants.
With characters from Fox's X-Men universe confirmed for 2026's Avengers: Doomsday and likely Secret Wars, Marvel is gradually preparing audiences for a world where live-action mutant stories become a central part of cinematic superhero storytelling once more. The expected “Mutant Saga” will give Marvel the chance to reinvent its most iconic team, though it could also go further beyond Xavier's X-Men.
The X-Men Are Only Going To Get More Important To The MCU

Mutants have already begun to define the MCU and its future. The involvement of characters like James Marsden's Cyclops, Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, Kelsey Grammar's Beast, Channing Tatum's Gambit, and more in Avengers: Doomsday confirms that Fox’s X-Men legacy still matters, even as Marvel looks prepared to launch its own versions native to the main MCU timeline (Earth-616).
The Multiverse Saga's Doomsday and Secret Wars look to be using Fox's X-Men to serve as a bridge between various realities in the multiverse (just like The Fantastic Four of Earth-828). In the aftermath, a future is expected where mutants and the X-Men become a primary storytelling engine with all-new X-Men actors and MCU arcs.
Once the Multiverse Saga concludes, Marvel can finally explore all kinds of X-Men-centric stories, exploring new narratives and events Fox's previous films didn't. This could include highlighting rosters beyond the traditional Xavier-recruited lineup of X-Men.
In that same vein, the MCU is perfectly positioned to produce a movie centered not on the X-Men themselves, but on their most complex rivals instead: Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants.
Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants Deserve Their Own MCU Movie
Magneto with his Brotherhood of Mutants standing behind him.
In the comics, The Brotherhood confronts human oppression with force, challenging Xavier’s dream of coexistence. Their ideology is darker, but their motivations are deeply sympathetic, more than their live-action depiction in Fox's movie often gave them credit for beyond Magneto himself.
The MCU has already proven it can craft compelling stories around morally gray characters. Loki's full MCU arc has brilliantly explored a fully redeemed trickster by the end of Loki season 2. Likewise, the recent Thunderbolts* movie is built entirely on antiheroes becoming more and better together than their individual dark pasts.
A Brotherhood of Mutants MCU movie to rival a X-Men film could fit a similar mold, giving audiences a story driven by characters who aren’t traditionally “heroic” but remain undeniably compelling, while being led by one of Marvel's most complex and sympathetic antagonists of all time.
A film centered on the likes of Magneto, Mystique, Pyro, Blob, Sabretooth, Toad, Juggernaut, and more Brotherhood icons (perhaps even Rogue before she joined the X-Men) could offer some pretty unique stakes and themes to the MCU.
A Brotherhood of Mutants movie could explore radicalization, fractured loyalties, as well as the consequences of fighting oppression through consistent aggression rather than diplomacy. It could also highlight the ideological divide between the Brotherhood and X-Men.
Giving the Brotherhood their own movie wouldn’t just be a bold live-action first for the MCU. It would also expand the emotional and political scope of the MCU's expected Mutant Saga itself.
