Value of Arthur Vermeeren’s buy option at Marseille revealed

Arthur Vermeeren (20) joined Olympique de Marseille on loan from RB Leipzig in the summer, looking to get his career back on track after a couple of middling seasons.

The early signs have been positive for the young Belgian, who has had plenty of game time under Roberto De Zerbi at the Vélodrome. Despite the wealth of options at the Italian’s disposal, Vermeeren has been a regular and to date has 11 appearances for OM in all competitions.

Crucially, he has played in all four (including three starts) of Marseille’s UEFA Champions League games, a sign of trust in the young midfielder.

The Belgium international’s loan to Les Phocéens includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the current campaign. The value of that buy option has now been revealed by Foot Mercato and stands at €20m. OM’s current stance on triggering that option is currently unknown.
