Despite already being deep at tight end, the Los Angeles Rams added yet another player to that position group on Wednesday. They signed 10-year veteran Nick Vannett to the active roster, helping fill the void of the injured Tyler Higbee.

Higbee is currently on injured reserve and will miss at least three more games, so the Rams wanted to ensure they have enough talent at the position until he can return. Sean McVay explained the logic behind signing Vannett during his press conference this week, indicating it was necessary to allow the Rams to play as much 13 personnel as they want to.

He even joked about trotting out some four-tight end formations in 14 personnel.

Vannett played four games with the Vikings this season, making one start. He did not catch a pass, however, and played just 31 offensive snaps.

His last reception came in 2024 with the Titans, who he started 10 games for. He caught 17 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns that year.

Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson will continue to get the bulk of the snaps at tight end but Vannett could get some opportunities, while also contributing on special teams.
