Greensburg's swim teams traveled to East Central Tuesday for the first swim meet of the season for the Lady Pirates and Pirates. The Lady Pirates fell to the Lady Trojans 117-55. The Pirates narrowly missed a win by the final of 77-76.
First place finishes included the medley relay team of Jack Bennett, Micah Reynolds, Harrison Yu and Joe Hawkins. Tyler Williams had a strong effort to win the 200 freestyle. Yu won the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke while Bennett claimed first in the 500 freestyle.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe 200 freestyle relay of David Stallsmith, Hawkins, Williams and Bennett grabbed first. Audra Gehl had a great 100 breaststroke race for the win. Williams, Reynolds, Hawkins and Yu finished out the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay.
Overall, Coach Josh Hawkins was pleased with the performances he saw.
"We are well ahead of where we were this time last season. The kids have been working hard and it is evident," Coach Hawkins said.
