Chris Pratt has become widely known as one of the biggest and most successful action stars in the world. Although his reputation has suffered a blow with his most recent release, Mercy, he’s poised to get back on track later this year with a new Apple TV movie poised to steal hearts around the world. Mercy is a sci-fi thriller with Rebecca Ferguson that flopped at the box office before being quietly dumped on Prime Video earlier this week. Pratt also has experience as a blockbuster leading man in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World franchises, which have collectively helped him become one of the highest-grossing movie stars of all time. Pratt is also the headlining figure of Prime Video’s Terminal List franchise, which is being positioned as the platform’s Reacher alternative.

While Pratt is now known as the chiseled action star capable of leading billion-dollar franchises, he first rose to fame on the popular sitcom Parks and Recreation, which ran for 7 seasons from 2009 to 2015. The show is set in the small town of Pawnee, Indiana, and it follows a local Parks department as they get into all sorts of hilarious hijinks in their small town. Pratt’s role is much more comedic than something like The Terminal List, but it’s part of what helped land him the role in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, which required a level of stature but also lighthearted comedy. All episodes of Parks and Rec are streaming on Peacock in America, but globally, the series has become one of the most popular rentals and purchases on VOD platforms like Apple TV and Google. It was written and created for TV by The Office creator Greg Daniels.

Chris Pratt’s New Sci-Fi Movie Is Finally on Streaming

Chris Pratt does have success as a leading man, but that success didn’t translate to his new sci-fi film, Mercy. Even with a big co-star like Rebecca Ferguson, Amazon’s new sci-fi epic, following a detective who must prove his innocence to an AI judge, failed at the box office with only $53 million against a $60 million budget. The film is already at the top of VOD charts, but it has a long way to go if it’s going to recuperate the remaining $50 million or so it needs to break even.
