An inspired second-half performance from University at Albany men's basketball translated to the Great Danes picking up perhaps their best win of the season Thursday night against NJIT.

Down by as many as 12 in the first half against a Highlanders team that entered the night in first place in the America East, UAlbany combined lights-out 3-point shooting with improved defense and plenty of hustle plays to overwhelm NJIT in the final 20 minutes and race to an 81-63 win.

"Really proud of our guys," UAlbany coach Dwayne Killings said in a postgame interview on the ESPN+ broadcast. "This is a win that we needed."

Amir Lindsey scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the second half for UAlbany (10-17 overall, 6-6 America East). Down 42-32 at halftime, the Great Danes outscored NJIT (15-13, 10-3) 49-21 in the second half.

Jaden Kempson added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Great Danes, Okechukwu Okeke chipped in a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Isaac Abidde scored 10.

Sebastian Robinson scored 18 points for NJIT, but the Highlanders, who shot 58.6% from the field in the first half, shot 23.3% in the second half - including a 1-of-12 mark from 3-point range.
