The “Money Badger’s” time with the Colts has come to a close once again. He has been waived by the Colts after missing his 3rd extra point (18/21) in his 7 games with the Colts in 2025. He was 10/11 on Field Goals, including 2/3 from 50+ yards.
But after Badgley’s miss contributed to a Colts loss vs the Texans and nearly cost the game for the Colts against the Falcons prior to the Bye week (missed his only Field Goal Attempt and another extra point, but did send the Colts to overtime with a 44 yard make late in the 4th), the Colts decided to move in a different direction.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNow the Colts will sign a 3rd Kicker to start for them in the 2025 season. Previously Spencer Shrader was manning the job, up until an injury after a roughing the kicker penalty occurred against the Titans.
The candidates are likely similar to the prior Colts mid-season search for a Kicker. Previously these 3 veterans were part of the post-Shrader Kicker search and are still available:
Josh Lambo
Dustin Hopkins
Matt Ammendola
There was a new addition to this round of kicker tryouts as well with former Saints kicker Blake Grupe added to the list.
Most likely the Colts will sign one of these 4 to step into the kicking duties.
Justin Tucker is a new option after his 10 game suspension, but there have been no reports that the former Ravens kicker was a part of the Colts tryouts. With his 2024 season being the worst kicking performance of his career by a wide margin and the suspension being a result of investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct to 16 different massage therapists from 8 different Baltimore parlors, the likelihood the Colts even consider the controversial kicker is miniscule.
