The Christmas season is now in full effect, according to The Chosen’s creator, scrib,e and director, Dallas Jenkins, who took to YouTube on Sunday for one of his famous live streams. In addition to declaring it the official kick-off for lights and love, Jenkins was there to show off plenty of merch from the biblical series, including hoodies, ornaments, and knick-knacks, as he pleaded with viewers to spend some cash to help get the seventh and final season of The Chosen up and running.

It’s far from the first time that The Best Christmas Pageant Ever-helmer has asked audiences to donate to the cause, having previously done the same for the seasons that came before, including the penultimate sixth season, which, he revealed, has officially been “fully funded.” This includes the “supersized” finale that will give audiences a look at the crucifixion as the capper to a batch of episodes that Jenkins says are “not going to be easy.”

As for what lies beyond what Jenkins admitted to being “one of the most challenging things in my life personally and professionally,” is the uncharted territory of Season 7. With Season 6 fully basking in its cash flow, this is where the dedicated base’s fundraising efforts are now being called to. The good news for all The Chosen fans out there is that the first episode has already been covered by a major donor, with Jenkins revealing:

“Episode 1 of Season 7 is already funded. The momentum was made possible by a $2.5 million dollar gift that was given to us — to Come and See — by a family that has given before to The Chosen, but they said, ‘We really want this to jumpstart the financing of Season 7.’”

What Donations to ‘The Chosen’ Cover

Considering that the price tag on the Season 7 premiere — which is set to cover the resurrection of Christ (Jonathan Roumie) and the Easter story — is $2.5 million all on its own, we can only imagine how much more money the team will need folks to scrape from their piggy banks to round out the series.

Re-teaming with the Come and See foundation, Jenkins said that those eager to help the cause can go straight to their website and explained that not only will these donations help finance “the production” of Season 7, but that it will also financially back “the translation into the 600 languages that it is eventually going to be translated into.” In September, it was revealed that the biblical series broke a Guinness World Record with its translation efforts, a milestone that Jenkins is only hoping to build upon by the time the final episodes see the light of day.

As of right now, no release date has been set for Season 6 of The Chosen, but Jenkins told viewers that the series was now heading into its editing phase. The title is expected to make its Prime Video return next year. Check out the full livestream above.
