Over the weekend Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes exercised their Michigan demons by soundly defeating the Wolverines in a 27-9 romp.

During the contest, Ohio State lost communication with the team's headsets. The incident sparked accusations of cheating against the Michigan program, which was just hit with stiff penalties from a previous cheating scandal.

Just before the 2025 season kicked off, the NCAA announced Michigan committed violations involving an off-campus, in-person scouting scheme, impermissible recruiting inducements and communications, head coach responsibility rules, individuals' failures to cooperate and Michigan's failure to monitor.

In the end, the communications mishap couldn't stop Ohio State, which enters the Big Ten title game as the No. 1 team in the country.

Just a few days after the game, Day finally addressed the accusations, revealing Ohio State planned for something like this to happen.

“We lost communication there in the second half, but the good news was that earlier that week, I thought there may be an inkling that they may happen, so we had a plan for it,” Day said. “We had a wristband plan, and then we would bring Julian (Sayin) over, and that was just getting us through it until we got the headsets back up and running, which took a little while to get done. But just by chance, we had a plan for it, and so we were ready to go when it happened.”

Day was later asked why he had such an inkling.

“We’re just ready for everything. You just got to be ready for anything. When you go into any big game, you’re always trying to put contingency plans in place for anything that could possibly happen, and so I was in here on Friday, and I think some of the guys on the staff were looking at me sideways like, ‘Why would you think that would happen?’ I said, ‘I don’t know. We just got to be ready and ready for anything.’"

He finished his statement with, "It's funny how your mind works," before winking to the reporters.
